Jason Farwell was a junior at Southeastern
Regional High School. He went to Southeastern with hope of one day becoming a plumber. Besides just going to school there,
Jason was also a football player for the Southeastern Hawks. Number 61.
In October of 2003, Jason was diagnosed with leukemia. The doctors
told Jason and his family that because he was so young and strong that there was a good outlook for him. Through
his courage and determination Jason seemed to make it over every hurdle that life sent his way. I'll never meet
a person stronger than he was.
In April, things started getting pretty bad. He desperately needed
a bone marrow transplant. With numerous donors on the list, things started looking up again. We had seem him overcome so many aspects
of this disease, and most of the people who knew him were sure he'd make it through.
Well, doctors later told Jason and his family that all the treatment
he had put up with had failed, and Jason had the choice to either give up, or fight and try experimental procedures.
Soon after he was accepted into a new treatment program, Jason lost his battle with leukemia.
My heart ached the most it ever had, and I know I wasn't the
only one who felt that way. Jason touched so many lives, and that was clearly shown by the astonishing amount of people
that attended his wake and funeral.
Jason was an amazing person. For a lot of us, it is a constant struggle
to make it through life without him. This site is meant to keep his memory alive, while at the same time, honoring such an
extraordinary young man.
Rest in peace Jason, you will never be forgotten.
